I was invited to preach at the first year anniversary of the Bagumbong Community Christian Fellowship last July 14 and I was overwhelmed. I counted about 50 adults in the worship area on the third floor of their building and about 40 children on the ground floor. The children could not fit into the main hall so they had to be content listening to my voice on a blaring loud speaker downstairs.
Brother George, their leader, told me that most of these were regular attenders. Wow, I never expected nor dreamed that this group would grow this large in just a year’s time. But thanks be to God for the progress!
George initially started this ministry as a Sunday Children’s Bible Study about a year and a half ago, after finishing our Bible institute (RBIPT) and moving to Bagumbong, Caloocan where his wife’s sister resides. Bagumbong is situated at the northernmost part of Caloocan City and is about an hour away from Moonwalk on a Sunday.
With God’s blessing on George’s persevering labors, contact was established with the parents of the children who attended the Sunday ministry. This was followed by attenders from the neighborhood who had been invited through door-to-door evangelism and Bible studies conducted in various households.
Initially, the group, numbering about 20, attended MCBC one Sunday a month until the time that their own building was constructed by Lucy’s (George’s wife) business-woman sister (and of course, her husband) and dedicated to accommodate the growing number of contacts. Worship services then immediately followed and more people came.
It has been one year now since that first worship service, thanks be to God. George tells me that there may be a dozen or more attenders who are already believers. I am excited about this group and can’t wait for it to covenant into a church. I pray that God would bless the leadership of George and mold him into a more effective man of God committed to preaching and living the truth faithfully where the Lord has placed him.
We are preaching there once a month and seeking to guide them towards church formation. Thanks be to God for what He is doing in Caloocan.
